Holding Time brings together installation, projection mapping, porcelain sculpture, and framed works. Hand-sculpted porcelain runs throughout as both archive and witness, fragile yet resilient, holding trace, memory, and transformation.

Developed during the artist’s experience of her mother’s terminal illness, the work reflects on gradual loss and on witnessing resilience and strength during a prolonged and unyielding illness. It holds fragility alongside resistance, tenderness with fear, exhaustion with awe.

Rather than positioning grief as an outcome, it considers grief as a durational condition shaped by cycles of rupture and repair. This is reflected in processes of making, breaking, and reassembling the sculptural elements.

In this transitional time, there are returns rather than resolutions. The projected sea, revolving from drip to storm to calm, embodies the surge, the crash, and the quiet—moments of light and terror that recur within cycles of treatment.

The installation consists of 108 hand-sculpted porcelain tiles (30cm²), arranged as a dispersed cellular sea. Individually distinct, the tiles accumulate into a larger surface marked by variation, rupture, and subtle anomaly. Across this sea, projection mapping introduces shifting states of light, from clarity to distortion, activating the work as a temporal structure rather than a fixed image.

Alongside the installation, vessels and wall-based works extend the same material logic. Broken tiles are reworked into new forms, and offcuts become vessels or framed works. Material is continuously reconfigured rather than discarded.

Across the work, porcelain holds experience as trace. Within repetition and transformation, fragility persists as structure.
